Korea Nelo Vingad Aims To Bring FC Seoul First Tittle

FC Seoul’s new boss Nelo Vingada is looking forward to his new Korea opportunity and bring a first K-League title to the club.

The well-travelled Portuguese tactician was appointed last week and has extensive experience in Asia on both the national and club team level.

"I'm very happy to be here. My feelings are very optimistic," Vingada told local media.

"I believe that by training hard, as a team, as a
family, we will achieve what everybody wants."

On a cold day in the capital, Vingada recalled his visit to Seoul World Cup Stadium as the head coach of Jordan in 2008.

"We played here for the group stage for the (World Cup) qualification. I could not expect that after one year and a half that I'd be here being presented as the head coach of FC Seoul."

The 56 year-old, who won the Egyptian title with Zamalek, aims to do the same for FC Seoul.

"My challenge, the challenge of the team, the challenge I want to bring to the players, is to make first (place)," he said.

"It's a new year, a new time, so when we start our training, we will have my new ideas and the support of the staff. I want to see FC Seoul on the list of winners of the K-League. I am here for this challenge."

"We are here to win, but we also want to bring high level, exciting football, football with everyone involved, everyone pressing.

Top Ten Asian Football Events of 2009

Of the multitude of coaching changes made in West Asia, the dismissal of the Romanian summed up how football bosses in the region often shoot themselves in the foot.

The Romanian left the Riyadh club after the events of February after the Saudi Arabian giants defeated Al Shabab 1-0 in the Crown Prince final.

Following the game, Olaroiu blocked by Al Shabab security from leading his entire team onto the podium, stormed away from the celebrations. He then removed his outer shirt, one with a picture of the crown prince, and then threw it the grass, in front on the prince’s representative before leaving. He denied any intent, saying it was all a misunderstanding.
