Korea Nelo Vingad Aims To Bring FC Seoul First Tittle

FC Seoul’s new boss Nelo Vingada is looking forward to his new Korea opportunity and bring a first K-League title to the club.

The well-travelled Portuguese tactician was appointed last week and has extensive experience in Asia on both the national and club team level.

"I'm very happy to be here. My feelings are very optimistic," Vingada told local media.

"I believe that by training hard, as a team, as a
family, we will achieve what everybody wants."

On a cold day in the capital, Vingada recalled his visit to Seoul World Cup Stadium as the head coach of Jordan in 2008.

"We played here for the group stage for the (World Cup) qualification. I could not expect that after one year and a half that I'd be here being presented as the head coach of FC Seoul."

The 56 year-old, who won the Egyptian title with Zamalek, aims to do the same for FC Seoul.

"My challenge, the challenge of the team, the challenge I want to bring to the players, is to make first (place)," he said.

"It's a new year, a new time, so when we start our training, we will have my new ideas and the support of the staff. I want to see FC Seoul on the list of winners of the K-League. I am here for this challenge."

"We are here to win, but we also want to bring high level, exciting football, football with everyone involved, everyone pressing.

Champions League Draw LIVE!

The draw for the first knockout round of the Champions League conjured up some tasty ties, with Milan versus Manchester United and Jose Mourinho's Inter versus Carlo Ancelotti's Chelsea the pick of the bunch.

European Champions Barcelona were handed a good draw against German strugglers Stuttgart, while Real Madrid play Lyon and Arsenal meet Porto.

The draw was arranged so that eight group winners would be paired with eight group runners-up, although no team from the same group or country could meet.

Top Ten Asian Football Events of 2009

Of the multitude of coaching changes made in West Asia, the dismissal of the Romanian summed up how football bosses in the region often shoot themselves in the foot.

The Romanian left the Riyadh club after the events of February after the Saudi Arabian giants defeated Al Shabab 1-0 in the Crown Prince final.

Following the game, Olaroiu blocked by Al Shabab security from leading his entire team onto the podium, stormed away from the celebrations. He then removed his outer shirt, one with a picture of the crown prince, and then threw it the grass, in front on the prince’s representative before leaving. He denied any intent, saying it was all a misunderstanding.

SEARCH STARTS FOR NEW FA CUP SPONSOR

The Football Association is looking for a new FA Cup sponsor.

"The FA can confirm E.ON's sponsorship of the FA Cup will come to a close at the end of the season," an FA spokesman said in a statement on Wednesday.

"We are now looking forward to taking the FA Cup sponsorship opportunity to the open market for the 2010-14 period."

The energy giant's four-year contract with the FA was worth 32 million pounds.

The FA is also still looking to finalise a TV deal for the FA Cup following the demise of the Setanta television company.

Ashley Cole signs new chelsea deal

England defender Ashley Cole has signed a new four-year deal with Chelsea, the Premier League leaders said on Wednesday.

A short statement on their website, read: "Chelsea FC is delighted to confirm that Ashley Cole has signed a new four year contract."

Cole, 28, follows skipper John Terry in committing his long-term future to the club which he joined from Arsenal in August 2006. Terry signed a new five-year deal last week.

Currently with the England squad before Saturday's friendly against Slovenia and next week's World Cup qualifier against Croatia, Cole scored a superb goal on Saturday when Chelsea beat Burnley 3-0 in the Premier League.

He has been an integral part of Chelsea's defence for the last three years and last season became the first player since 1891 to secure a fifth FA Cup winners medal when he was voted "man of the match" in the final against Everton.

It was his second FA Cup win with Chelsea after winning three FA Cups with Arsenal.
